Welcome to Be Smart Become Rich. I am not a certified financial planner, accountant, lawyer, or tax professional. I am a mechanical engineer with a strong interest in personal finance, investing, kids and money, and raising a family.
I’m in my early 30s and have experienced an array of financial events since attending college. I’ve read countless books, forums, and blogs. As an engineer, I enjoy the process of learning and researching. After being a bystander for years it’s time to share my perspective on these important life topics. There is no get rich quick scheme but I believe everyone can become rich.
I have experienced many of the financial events that shape our lives. I’ve obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree and understand the financial burdens higher education places on graduating high school seniors.
I’ve purchased real estate just before the crash, sold after the crash and bought a different property before the market fully recovered. I’ve taken on various forms of debt including student loans, car loans, and consumer debt.
Throughout these events I’ve tried different methods of eliminating debt and budgeting. I’ve established systems that work for our family. There are systems in place to invest for our retirement. We’re now a family of four with both of our kids under the age of four. Kids have brought a whole new set of exciting challenges into our lives.
Our long-term goal is to live a life that allows us the flexibility to retire at a reasonable age if we desire. Our kids are our primary focus and ensuring that they grow up with a strong educational foundation and sound money principles is important to us.
There is no single solution that works for everyone. It is important as you read this blog, or any other blog or book for that matter, to take what you can and cater it to your life. Never invest or buy a financial product that you don’t fully understand. Take time to seek assistance and then make your decision.
